Our General Insurance activities commenced in 1968 when Jim Wilson, then an AMP agent, started servicing his Life Insurance customers with General Insurance.
Professional Insurance Agencies was formed in 1970 and developed over the next 30 years into Professional Insurance Agencies Pty Ltd, the Company that trades today.
Our current staff have experience ranging from 2 years to 34 years in General Insurance.
Our customer service team have a diverse range of backgrounds which allows them to deliver quality General Insurance Advice and Service.
Our culture is based on core values of integrity, respect, commitment and teamwork. We understand that little things count for so much.

Name: Barrie Crichton OAM Barrie commenced his insurance career in 1975 with National and General and was appointed local manager of the Sunshine Coast office in 1981, he left National and General in 1986 and started as a fire inspector with AMP General Insurance Co Ltd. He served in various roles within AMP, including Local Manager of the Darling Downs office before returning to Brisbane to take up General Insurance manager roles in Mt Gravatt and Toowong offices. Barrie joined Jim Wilson’s Professional Insurance Agencies in 1997 as a partner and director, the agency grew during the next few years as Barrie formed a close working relationship with Spencer who also became a partner and director in 2001. During this time the agency enjoyed many production and service awards from several underwriters including AMP, Ansvar and Alliance. Barrie has also served on several industry associations during this period and is an associate of the Australia and New Zealand Insurance Institute holding a Diploma in Financial Services (General Insurance) & (Broker) he also maintains a (CIP) status and is a Justice of Peace and remains accredited in domestic and commercial insurance products. Name: Spencer Felix Spencer worked for AMP Life from 1986 until 1991 when he moved to AMP General Insurance as part of their Customer Service and underwriting team. He then commenced employment with Professional Insurance Agencies in Nov 1996 looking after the general insurance clients of Jim Wilson. In 2001 Spencer became a business partner and Director with Jim Wilson & Barrie Crichton. Spencer & Barrie have worked well together over the years to develop the Agency into the successful Practice that services its customer’s needs today. Spencer is a Senior Associate of the Australia and NZ Insurance institute and holds a Diploma in Financial Services (General Insurance) & (Broker) and maintains a (CIP) status, Justice of Peace (Qual) and remains accredited in domestic and commercial insurance products. Name: Gary Nicholls Gary worked for AMP Life from 1972 until 1993 when he moved to AMP General Insurance as part of their Customer Service team. He then commenced employment with Frank Daly at Taringa in July 1997 looking after the general insurance clients of Neville Daly Financial Planners until the business was sold and Gary moved to Professional Insurance Agencies Pty Ltd in January 2004 in the role of Office Manager. Name: Sue Binge Sue has worked in the general insurance industry since 1985. She worked for AMP General Insurance until 1992. In 1993 she joined J & B L Wilson and worked until 1995 before having a break of 3 years returning to Professional Insurance Agencies in 1998. Sue is accredited in domestic products. Name: Louise McNena Louise has worked in the insurance and finance sector since 1987. Louise has worked with AMP insurance agencies since 2000 and started work at Owl Insurance Agencies Pty Ltd in 2006 and the company was merged with Professional Insurance Agencies Pty Ltd in May 2007. Name: Wendi Hart Wendi worked for AMP General Insurance from 1989 until 2000. She commenced employment at Owl Insurance Agencies Pty Ltd in 2001 and the company was merged with Professional Insurance Agencies Pty Ltd in May 2007. Name: Allison Andrews Allison commenced work at Professional Insurance Agencies on 16/2/2011. Prior to this she worked in various administration roles which have included Suncorp as a Customer Service Officer and also at Auto and General Insurance Services. Allison has a Certificate III in finance and is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts at University of Qld studying European History. Name: Gilly McKeown Gilly moved from England to Australia in 2009. Since then she has worked for Suncorp in Motor and Home insurance claims and for Mondial Assistance in the Travel claims department, before joining Professional Insurance Agencies in early 2011.
